Our
Adoption Process...
Step 1- Complete
Adoption Questionnaire/Application Our goal is
to place dogs in the most compatible home possible. Our questionnaire is
designed to help acquaint us with the potential adopter and make the best
pet-to-home match. Considering that our rescues have already had a less than
ideal life, we ask the following questions to help us better understand our
applicants and the reason they want a rescue pet. Our questionnaire is intended
to be a guide to consider all the ways a pet will impact your life and also to
determine if you are a suitable match for one of our rescued dogs. All of the
questions concern various aspects of pet ownership that should be given serious
consideration before deciding to share your life with any animal. The
information you provide will help us to find the most suitable pet for your
family.
Step 2- Home Visit and
Meet & Greet We know you
can't judge a book by the cover-or a pet by a picture. Once an application is
approved, we set up a Meet & Greet and Home Visit to see how the dog
interacts with the potential adopter.
Step 3- Adoption Fee
and Adoption Contract All pets are
vet current at time of adoption. Spay/Neuter (if pet is not already altered)
and microchip is included in adoption fee of $175.00 for most dogs. Adoption
Contract requires pet be returned to Companion Canines if at anytime he/she
cannot be kept by adopter. Pet cannot be re-homed or taken to any shelter.
Note:
As stated above, part of our adoption procedure is a Home Visit before adoption
as well as follow-up visits after. In the case of puppies, veterinary visits to
our participating animal hospital are also necessary. For these reasons we are
not able to place dogs outside our adoption range. We generally serve Union and surrounding counties
but will travel outside the area in some situations.
